  一、教学课型:阅读课

  本课的Reading An Interview是一篇对话形式的课文,围绕单元中心话题The Olympic Games而展开。通过学习本篇课文,让学生了解对话文体的特点,训练学生概括文章主旨和寻找相关细节的能力;引导学生了解有关奥运会的信息,并体会中国成为2008年奥运会东道主的喜悦和自豪感,由此引发学生思考在奥运会到来之际,自己能为奥运做些什么。

  二、教材分析

  1. 教学内容(见教材第9—11页内容)

  2. 教材处理

  本单元的Warming-up是围绕奥运会这一话题展开的。笔者要求学生在课前利用网络和书籍收集与奥运会有关的信息,并补充了一些有关奥运会比赛项目的英语表达法。

  把Warming-up和词汇学习等整合成一节课。这样,原先单一的对话变成了一个完整的故事,更贴近学生的生活,也更容易被学生所理解。笔者还重新设计了Comprehending中的表格和问题,使之更加紧扣文章的主题,更符合学生的认知特点和实际情况,以便学生更好地完成任务,体验学习成功的快乐。

  3. 教学目标

  (1)引导学生运用阅读技巧把握课文主题,理解课文细节,并培养学生概括文章大意和口头表达的能力;

  (2)引导学生了解奥运会的相关知识,包括古代奥运会的由来和发展、现代奥运会的概况以及中国的奥运之路,并引导学生在阅读中思考如何使奥运精神深入人心;

  (3)要求学生掌握一些有关奥运的英语表达,提高学生谈论有关体育话题的语言交际能力。

  4. 教学重点和难点

  (1)培养学生的阅读技巧,即把握文章主旨和理解课文细节的能力;

  (2)提高学生概括文章大意的能力;

  (3)激发学生的情感,提高学生表达思想的能力。

  三、教学步骤设计

  1. 总体思路

  笔者在本节阅读课的教学设计中采用了多媒体教学等辅助手段,在学生阅读过程中分别安排了小组竞赛抢答、观看图片回答问题、四人小组讨论以及集体回答等多种活动,旨在启发学生的思维,使学生通过亲身体验和相互合作,在真实的交流中提高获取信息和处理信息的能力。笔者努力贯彻以学生为主体的教学新理念,力求使各个活动环环相扣,以符合学生的思维特点和认知水平,培养学生的听、说、读、写能力。

  2. 教学过程

  Step 1 Warming-up

  Show the students a picture of Five Rings Flags and get them to know what they stand for.

  奥运会会徽及相关的奥运竞技画面让学生快速进入有关奥运知识的学习氛围,为呈现和展开本课话题埋下了伏笔。

  Step 2 Lead-in

  (1) Competition

  教师用多媒体呈现以下问题,并引导学生展开竞赛:

  How much do you know about the Olympic Games?

  ①When did the ancient Olympic Games start?

  ②What rewarded the winners in ancient Olympic Games?

  ③How many gold medals did China get in the 2004 Athens Olympics?

  ④Which sport is in the Winter Olympic Games?

  ⑤How many kinds of Olympic Games are there in the world?

  ⑥What’s the motto of the Olympic Games?

  ⑦What’s the motto of the Athens Olympics?

  ⑧What’s the host city of the first Olympics?

  ⑨What’s the host city of the 2012 Olympic Games?

  课前笔者让学生在网上查找资料了解有关奥运会的知识,内容包括古代奥运会、现代奥运会、中国与奥运会等,课堂上要求学生围绕着内容开展竞赛活动。竞赛过程中气氛紧张而愉快,学生注意力相对集中,竞赛活动培养了学生的合作精神和集体荣誉感。

  (2)Brainstorming:

  教师用多媒体呈现以下问题:Are you familiar with the following sports events? 然后教师呈现各种运动项目的图片:

  ①Events for the Summer Olympics: basketball, volleyball, football, tennis, table tennis, baseball, swimming, diving, wrestling.

  ②Events for the Winter Olympics: skiing, skating, ice ball, figure skating

  呈现相关图片,引导学生学习有关奥运比赛项目的英语词汇。

  Step 3 While-reading

  Task 1 Skimming

  教师让学生把课文快速浏览一遍,然后回答以下问题:

  ①What are Pausanias and Li Yan mainly talking about?

  ②When Pausanias hears that women are allowed to join in, what does he say? How about his feeling, sad, surprised or happy?

  ③When Pausanias hears the Olympics are also about being able to run faster, jump higher and throw further, how does he feel, sad, surprised of happy?

  Task 2 Scanning

  Get the students to scan the passage to find out the similarities and differences of the ancient and modern Olympics.

  有关古今奥运会异同之处的内容在课文中涉及面比较广,设计此表格是为了帮助学生更好地理解对话内容。

  ⑧The village built for Olympic athletes is made up of a main reception building, several stadiums and a gymnasium.

  (3) Complete the following form:

  待学生了解了课文的主要内容之后,教师将学生分为若干个小组,要求他们讨论古今奥运会的异同,并完成表格。

  Step 4 Post-reading

  Get the students to answer the following questions:

  ②Why does he think Athens and Beijing should feel proud?

  ③Why does he think people may be competing for money in the modern Olympic Games?

  ④What makes Pausanias happy about the modern Olympic Games?

  教师让学生细读课文,回答以上问题后,引导他们对课文进行概括总结,培养对课文进行深层次理解

  的能力。

  Step 5 Group Discussion

  Discuss this question in groups: Why do many countries want to host the Olympics Games while others do not?

  教师让学生分组讨论完成上面的图表。学生在讨论中可以用所学知识对奥运会的筹备情况各抒己见,通过让学生自由发言来训练其语言交际能力和发散思维,并进一步提高其语言运用能力,在此过程中学生的爱国热情也得到了升华。

  Step 6 Reading Extension

  将原文中的对话改编成一篇说明文,根据文章的重点和细节设置一则综合填空练习;然后让学生结成对子共同完成任务。最后,把此文作为范文让学生朗读和背诵。

All countries can take part if their athletes reached the ________ to the games. Women are not only _______ to join in but playing a very _________ role.   通过完成以上综合填空练习,引导学生整体把握文章的主要内容,最后概括全文。这一过程有助于提高学生的阅读技能。

  笔者根据学生完成任务的质量评价本节课教学目标的达成情况,并及时调整进程。

  Step 7 Homework

  (1)Read the text in pairs.

  (2)Collect as much as information about the Olympics and write an issue of wall-newspaper.

  作业(1)旨在通过表演活动提高学生说和写的能力,并激发学生的学习热情。作业 (2)进一步把学生的学习和生活结合在一起,延伸了课文内容,体现的新课标的基本理念。
